For undertaking Web Development we follow the following 
Development Process - 


Requirement Analysis:

This would normally be on a T&M Basis.

  1. Customer gives a requirement of what is needed from the Site – in terms of – functionality / look and feel, and what technology has to be considered (optional). Names of a few similar sites, if any / where possible (similar to the kind of site that Customer wants, for Benchmarking ). 
  2. VRVirtual assigns a designated Project Coordinator to deal with the Customer on the Project.
  3.  VRVirtual will detail the Requirements received, and also research the reference sites given.
  4. Based on the research, VRVirtual will send a set of questions to the Customer for any clarifications that may be needed.
  5. Customer will send answers to the queries raised. (This may take two iterations before complete details are available)

Requirement Document:

  1. Based on the information received, ACS will prepare a detailed Requirements document. The document will cover the following sections –
    • Functional Requirements of the Site 
    • Technology and Hosting Considerations
    • Look and Feel / UI requirements
    • Content Requirement and responsibility for Content Creation
    • Other Resources Required 
    • Acceptance Parameters
    • Post Hosting Management of the Site
  2. Customer will approve the detailed requirement document. 
  3. Costing – On freezing / approval of Requirements, a Cost Estimate for the work scoped in the requirement document will be given by ACS, incase the development is on a Fixed Cost basis. 
  4. Development Time Line – with deliverables and responsibilities will also be made along with the Cost sheet by ACS. 

Site Flow Document and Site Design Prototype: 

  1. After Cost and Time Line Approval, ACS will make a detailed Site Flow document. This is made right down to detailing pages, which will be there on the site. The document will also detail, the Links – Page and Mail, Forms (feedback etc), Auto Responders etc that each page will have.
  2. Along with Site Flow Document, ACS will design - Templates / Prototype Page layouts of the different kinds of pages which are likely to be there (normally on a site there are 3-4 different styles of pages e.g. Home page may have a style different from content pages, like “about us / our products” etc. ACS will normally make 2 “sets” of such prototype pages). 
  3. Approval of the Site Flow and the Layout Design – Customer will be expected to choose one of these style “Sets”. The Costing will normally take into consideration making 2 or 3 “sets”. If the Customer requires more such style prototype “sets” to be made, these will then be done on an additional charge basis. Customer will also approve the Site Flow document.

Site Development:

On approval of the Site Flow and Design Style / template, the actual site design and development will be done by VRVirtual. 

 

Content Creation / Content Formatting:

Based on the responsibility – of who will prepare the Content, the same will be required to be created. Incase VRVirtual are to create the content, then Raw Content will need to be given by Customer. Else the actual content to be put up on the site will be provided by Customer. 

 

Hosting of First Cut Site:

  1. After completion of Development and Content, the site will be hosted up for testing and validation by ACS
  2. Both ACS and Customer will do the Testing and Validation. Any problems / bugs will be ironed out at this stage by ACS.
  3. Acceptance Testing – Once the bugs have been ironed out, an Acceptance Test of the site will be done, on parameters finalized in the Requirement document.

Going Live and Handing Over:

  1. On completion of acceptance testing, the site will be made live. 
  2. Handing over – The site will then be handed over to the Customer, along with complete site document, code etc. As the person who has to subsequently maintain / manage the site will need this.
